Rooted Locally, Impacting Globally – BSU United Nations Day Celebration

In celebration of the United Nations Day, Benguet State University kicked off the program with a colorful Parade of Flags on October 30, 2025. The event was organized by the BSU SSG La Trinidad Campus in coordination with the International Relations Office as part of the University’s ongoing efforts to promote unity, peace, and global understanding.

Students, faculty, staff, and international students joined the parade, proudly carrying the flags of different nations. The campus came alive with color and spirit as each college showcased its assigned flag, symbolizing diversity, friendship, and shared purpose.

This celebration also marked the culmination of BSU’s International Month celebration, held under the theme “Rooted locally: impacting globally: A better BSU for a better world.”

Right after the colorful parade, the excitement continued with BSU Pasikatan 2025, where each college took the stage to showcase performances inspired by their assigned countries. Through music, dance, and creative expression, students highlighted the beauty of different cultures while showing their own talents and teamwork.

The celebration continued with the Mr. and Ms. United Nations 2025! Each college sent its own representatives, proudly wearing attire inspired by different countries. They faced meaningful questions about the UN theme, the Sustainable Development Goals, and current global and local issues, and they answered with heart, confidence, and purpose. Every word they spoke carried a message of awareness, hope, and action.

In the afternoon, a variety show was held, organized by the Center for Culture and the Arts in partnership with the Supreme Student Government. The performers included members of various BSU performing clubs as well as other talented students from different colleges.

Truly, the BSU United Nations Day 2025 was more than just an event, it was a celebration of diversity, unity, and global connection, showing that BSU continues to be rooted locally while making an impact globally.

Mr. Joseph B. Quinto, PhD, is a faculty member from the BSU-College of Arts and Humanities, Department of English.

Abstract:Writing and presenting research are endeavors that senior high school students have to hurdle in the Philippines. Therefore, this research aimed at unravelling the dimensions of the difficulties faced by senior high school students in their research writing and research presentations through a sequential qualitative mixed-methods design. Primary data was gathered through a qualitative survey of 448 students, while secondary data was obtained via 10 focus groups with 7-10 members representing the different strands in one private senior high school in Baguio City, Philippines. All these participants were selected using combined quota and purposive sampling. Thematic analysis coupled with an iterative procedure was utilized to treat the harvested qualitative data. Findings revealed that the dimensions of the difficulties faced by student-researchers in research writing are health-related, manuscript-related, people-related, and resources-related, while the dimensions in research presentations are inner-directed and outer-directed. This research adds to the current body of knowledge, can contribute to achieving the United Nations sustainable development goal 4.5 and 4.7 on equal education access and global citizenship skills, and recommends research trajectories.

February 12, 2026On February 11, 2026, Benguet State University warmly welcomed Ms. Kikuchi Otoha, a Japan International Cooperation Agency Volunteer from Japan, who will support a project under the College of Agriculture, strengthening BSU’s initiatives in community development and agricultural innovation. Ms. Otoha is currently visiting the University for a few days of familiarization and community immersion.

Upon arrival, Ms. Otoha was received by representatives from the College of Agriculture, Ms. Dianne D. Pingalo, CA Staff, Ms. Karen T. Tocya, and Ms. Eunice B. Monang from the Department of Extension Education, Ms. Maricel V. Dacnes, Chair of the Department of Extension Education, Mr. Jake L. Galian, IRO Coordinator, and Mr. Leo Kimbungan from the Agriculture-Buguias Campus, who also assisted as translator to facilitate smoother communication. The team facilitated her arrival and initial orientation as she began her engagement with the University.

As part of her official introduction, Ms. Otoha paid a courtesy call to University President Dr. Kenneth Alip Laruan. The meeting signified the University’s support for her upcoming work and reaffirmed BSU’s commitment to strengthening collaborative initiatives with international partners.

During her stay, Ms. Otoha will participate in community immersion and familiarization activities within the University and surrounding communities. These engagements will prepare her for her long-term stay and to effectively contribute to the College of Agriculture’s project and to broader extension and development initiatives.

February 12, 2026Benguet State University (BSU) faculty, staff, and alumni attended an information session on February 11, 2026, conducted by Fulbright Philippines, held at the International Relations Office (IRO) function hall.

Philippine-American Educational Foundation (PAEF), also known as the Fulbright Commission in the Philippines, is a non-profit binational organization established in 1946 by former American Senator J. William Fulbright. The Fulbright Commission in the Philippines was later established in 1948 through a bi-national agreement between the United States and the Philippine governments. The foreign exchange program fosters research collaborations, cultural understanding, and exchange of ideas among students, scholars, and professionals, promoting international education and excellent leadership between the two countries.

The scholarship programs offered were introduced by Ma’am Anna Kathrina Tansengco, a Program Officer at Fulbright. The programs include; Fulbright Foreign Student Program (FFSP), for early career professionals who pursue graduate studies or dissertation research which lasts for one (1) year; Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program (FVSP), which brings Filipino academics and professionals to lecture or conduct research in the US; Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program (HHFP), for mid-career professionals, which lasts for a year of combined non-graduate study and related practical and professional experience; Fulbright U.S.-ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program, which is open to all ASEAN member nations for a scholarly and professional research for 3-4 months on issues that are relevant and useful to member nations; Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program, a fully funded exchange opportunity for early-career English teachers, who will serve as Filipino-language teaching assistants at U.S. universities for one (1) academic year; and the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Programs for International Teachers (DAI), which brings international primary and secondary teachers to the United States for a semester-long program.

In an open forum, Ma’am Maria Nela Florendo, from the University of the Philippines Baguio; Ma’am Anne Cabanilla, formerly from Baguio City High School; Sir Mark Lopez, from Mountain Province State University; and Sir Jet Tadeo, from the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), all alumni of Fulbright Programs, shared their thoughts and insights with their first-hand Fulbright experiences of the programs they applied for. Queries and clarifications were also tackled during the session, giving the participants a clearer and broader understanding of the programs. February 11, 2026In a virtual conference, Benguet State University (BSU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) held at the function hall of the International Relations Office (IRO) on February 10, 2026. The MOU serves as proof of the partnership between the institution and the organization, promoting peace education.

HPWL, a non-profit and nongovernmental organization, was founded by Korean War veteran Mr. Lee Man Hee, who, at 19 years old, experienced the tragedies of war. The organization was founded in Seoul, South Korea, on May 25, 2013, to promote global peace and cessation of wars. At present, they operate 292 World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Offices around the world. In the Philippines, they have established numerous partnerships with schools, universities, and government agencies across 17 regions.

The conference was graced by Dr. Kenneth A. Laruan, University President; Dr. Rex John G. Bawang, International Relations Office Director; Sir Gleemoore Makie, Bokod Campus Administrator; Ma’am Claire Jeon, International Coordinator of HWPL Peace Education Asia; Ma’am Alecka Carcallas and Ma’am Arianne Nolasco– Peace Coordinators of HWPL Peace Education Philippines.

A brief video about HWPL was presented at the beginning of the meeting. Afterwards, Dr. Bawang presented a short overview regarding BSU as an institution. On the other hand, Ma’am Jeon expressed their gratitude towards BSU; she also delivered a speech regarding how HWPL functions as an organization and its accomplishments through the years. Thereafter, a speech of acceptance was delivered by Dr. Laruan, sharing his thoughts and insights about the content of the MOU. He mentioned that peace education has been incorporated with selected Social Sciences subjects in accordance with the issued memorandum order by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), which requires the integration of peace education in the curriculum of state universities and colleges. Dr. Laruan looks forward to the visit of HWPL to the University for a friendly discussion and to having workshops with them in the future to strengthen the partnership and to craft programs, frameworks, projects, and activities.

An overview of future activities was presented by Ma’am Carcallas, highlighting the main goal of the partnership, which is to build peace messengers, educators, and ambassadors around the world through collaborative efforts with school administrators, faculty, and staff, and students. ‘Peace Education Empowerment Program’ was presented as the action plan, which includes the “Promotion Campaign Trail” and “Peace Educators’ Formative”. The program aims to promote peace education through the establishment of the Peace Club, Peace Education Department, Peace Education Bulletin, Peace Corner, Peace Room, Peace Library, Peace Garden, and Peace Monuments inside the campus. February 10, 2026“Bridging Futures: Expanding Filipino Access to International Education” – an information session for students from the College of Engineering and the College of Forestry. The session was conducted by the PTCP Explore Career Consultancy Services, discussing International Education and career opportunities abroad. The session was held at the function hall of the International Relations Office on February 6, 2026.

A total of 30 students from the CE and CF joined the information session. The engagement event tackled the services and benefits of the study abroad program, which aims to give students a broader choice by presenting them with broader opportunities to study and work abroad.

Ms. Irene Victore opened the event with a brief welcome before delving deeper into the session. She introduced the services PTCP Explore offers, such as study abroad, internship/traineeship for Agriculture and Hospitality, study tour, visa assistance, and passport assistance. These services are applicable to their partners from countries like Australia, Canada, Finland, Germany, Malta, New Zealand, Poland, and Spain.

Meanwhile, Mr. Matt Aldrei Salipio discussed the benefits of studying abroad. These benefits include; fast-paced and hands-on training, quality education in world top-ranked universities/schools with a duration of 1-3 years, a part-time opportunity while studying, scholarship opportunities, access to post-study work permit, pathway to permanent residency, cultural and social benefits, advanced technology, and lastly, for European countries under the Schengen visa, travel to 29 countries without additional visa.

Moreover, Ms. Emielyn Balagtas delved into the Proof of Funds and Post-Study Work permit. She explained the process of managing the funds and reminded the participants of the funds they need upon applying for the programs offered.

The session concluded with an open forum, as a few participants inquired about the matters they wanted to know more about in the offered programs, career opportunities, and studying abroad. February 4, 2026On February 3, 2025, an information session on the INTENSE Program, or the International Industrial Talents Education Special Program of Taiwan, was successfully held at the University.

The activity was made possible through the visit of delegates from Kun Shan University, Taiwan, INTENSE Program representatives, and Intact Base Philippines staff. The day began with a courtesy call at the Office of the President with University President Kenneth Alip Laruan, together with IRO Director Dr. Rex John G. Bawang and IRO Deputy Director Dr. Doreen I. Allasiw. Afterward, the IRO team guided the delegates to DSG Hall at the CTE Building for the conduct of the information session.

The session was attended by Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering students from the BSU-College of Engineering, who actively participated throughout the discussion.

The program formally opened with welcome remarks from Dr. Doreen, who also introduced the visiting delegates, including Prof. Chiu Kou-Chun, Dean of the Office of International Affairs of Kun Shan University, Dr. Mike Chu, CEO of the INTENSE Program, Ms. Wing Hsiao and Ms. Belle Cheng, Project Managers, and Ms. Joy Fojas, General Manager of Intact Base Philippines, and Ms. Jonah Ponce, Intact Base Staff.

Prof. Chiu delivered a short message, expressing his gratitude to the University and introducing the INTENSE Program. This was followed by an engaging information session led by Ms. Joy Fojas and Dr. Mike Chu, who introduced and discussed Kun Shan University and the INTENSE Program. They informed the students of the educational opportunities available, as well as the program’s benefits and requirements.

The program concluded with a closing message from IRO Director Dr. Rex John G. Bawang, who shared his personal experience studying in Taiwan and encouraged the students to try an international learning opportunity.

This meaningful activity was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the visiting institutions and the IRO team, with Ms. Joy Fojas for reaching out to the University and initiating the coordination that led to this opportunity.

January 21, 2026Benguet State University welcomed Mr. Anicet Desrochers, a representative of Catalyste+ Canada, for an academic and field visit focused on apiculture and queen bee rearing. Mr. Desrochers is an organic honey producer and one of the leading queen rearers in Quebec, Canada. He was accompanied by representatives from the National Apiculture Research, Training and Development Institute, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU-NARTDI Apimonitor), Ms. Precious Angela Alcantara, and Ms. Jasmin Agdipa.

The visit formally began with a courtesy call at the BSU-Office of the President, where Mr. Desrochers and his delegation were warmly received by BSU President Kenneth A. Laruan, together with Dr. Ana B. Mendoza, Director of the Cordillera Regional Apiculture Center, and staff members Ms. Schereid Joi N. Ugnasi and Mr. Tristan B. Apiles.

During the meeting, the discussion focused on apiculture and queen bee production. Mr. Desrochers shared his experience as a large-scale queen producer in Canada, producing around 15,000 queens annually and supplying major honey-producing provinces such as Alberta. Topics included global beekeeping practices, challenges in queen trading due to international regulations, innovations in overwintering and queen banking, and the economic value of queen production.

The discussion also compared beekeeping conditions in Canada and the Philippines, highlighting concerns such as limited foraging areas, pesticide use, climate impacts, and the presence of adulterated honey in local markets. President Laruan, who also has experience in beekeeping, shared BSU’s role in beekeeping education, extension services, and research, emphasizing student involvement, sustainability, and the protection of native bee species such as Apis dorsata and stingless bees. Both parties highlighted the importance of education, collaboration, proper harvesting practices, and consumer awareness to support sustainable apiculture and environmental conservation.

Following the courtesy call, Mr. Desrochers and the group visit the Research and Extension Building. They visited the various exhibits of different centers, including the Center for Geoinformatics – Benguet State University, the Food Science Research and Innovation Center, and the Agri-based Technology Business Incubator (ATBI)/Innovation Center, and more. As part of the tour, Mr. Desrochers also had the opportunity to experience BSU-on-Air.

The visit continued with a tour of the ATBI experimental farm and to the BSU Strawberry Farm, one of the well-known local attractions, where the group experienced strawberry picking.

The day concluded with a visit to the Cordillera Regional Apiculture Center, where CRAC staff presented BSU’s apiculture practices, and Mr. Desrochers observed the university’s well-established bee farm. His visit to Benguet Province is part of his preparations for the upcoming training workshop titled “Advanced Bee Breeding for Sustainable Apiculture,” which he will facilitate at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University this January.

January 19, 2026“Your Global Launchpad II: Expanding International Opportunities for Students” was successfully conducted at the International Relations Office Building, engaging students from the College of Home Economics and Technology, BSU, Center for Culture and the Arts, and the College of Human Kinetics-Benguet.

The activity was organized in collaboration with the PTCP Explore Career Consultancy Services Team, led by Ms. Joy Elisabeth P. Sudango. As the second installment of the Global Launchpad series, the session aimed to provide targeted international opportunities suited to the academic interests of Home Economics, Culture and Arts, and Human Kinetics students.

In the morning session, PTCP Career Explore engaged students from CHET and CCA. Ms. Emielyn S. Balagtas presented various study-abroad opportunities specifically aligned with CHET programs, highlighting partner destinations such as New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Spain, and Poland. This was followed by Ms. Irene M. Victore, who discussed international internship opportunities in countries including the United States, Thailand, and Switzerland, outlining program benefits and application requirements. The session also featured Ms. Elizabeth, who introduced a Study Tour Program to Bali, Indonesia, offering students short-term international exposure and cultural learning experiences.

In the afternoon session, students from the College of Human Kinetics were introduced to global opportunities tailored to their field. Mr. Matt Aldrie G. Salipeo discussed the opportunity to work as a camp counselor abroad, presenting possible placements in various international destinations. Meanwhile, Mr. Jason E. Angayen, Business Development Officer, shared opportunities to pursue studies at UCAM, Spain, including options for Master’s degrees and Diploma programs.

January 14, 2026As part of the 40th Charter Anniversary Celebration of Benguet State University, the information session titled “Your Global Launchpad I: Unlocking International Opportunities for Students” was held at the 3rd floor of the International Relations Office Building.

The activity was organized with IRO through the initiative of the PTCP Explore Career Consultancy Services Team, led by Ms. Joy Elisabeth P. Sudango. This information session is part of a series that aims to reach students not only from the main campus but also from the Bokod and Buguias campuses, providing wider access to international opportunities.

The session began with a welcome message from Dr. Rex John G. Bawang, Director of the International Relations Office, who warmly welcomed the students from the Benguet State University-College of Agriculture. He emphasized the importance of listening and learning during the session, especially about opportunities for internship, study, and work abroad. He also introduced the role and services of the International Relations Office before formally introducing the guests from the PTCP Career Explore Team.

Dr. Bawang introduced the PTCP Career Explore Team members, namely Mr. Matt Aldrie G. Salipeo, Ms. Emielyn S. Balagtas, Ms. Irene M. Victore, and Ms. Joy Elisabeth P. Sudango, the Manager of PTCP Career Explore.

During the session, Mr. Matt Aldrie presented an overview of PTCP Career Explore, discussing the organization’s vision, mission, and the services they provide to help students access global opportunities. Ms. Irene then discussed the Paid Agricultural Internship Program, highlighting its benefits, requirements, and the support services provided by their office. Through this program, qualified students can apply for paid internships in countries such as Denmark, Switzerland, the United States, and Sweden.

Following this, Ms. Emielyn presented the Study–Work–Live Abroad Program, where she explained the benefits, requirements, and assistance offered to students who wish to study and work overseas. Opportunities are available with their partners which is in Canada, Germany, Finland, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, and other partner destinations.

The session also featured Mr. Jason E. Angayen, a Business Development Officer (Philippines) of Southern Cross University, Australia. He introduced the university, its academic offerings, and possible opportunities available to interested students, further expanding the international options presented during the activity.

January 14, 2026As part of the 40th Charter Anniversary Celebration of Benguet State University, the International Relations Office continued its Fruit Tree Rearing Activity, which began last year as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability.

The activity was joined by former IRO Director Maria Luz D. Fang-asan, former IRO Coordinator from the College of Natural Sciences Louisa P. Pladio, and the PTCP Explore Career Consultancy Services Team led by Ms. Joy Elisabeth P. Sudango (Joy Elisabeth). Their presence showed continued support for university’s environmental and sustainability efforts.

During the activity, the group cared and tended for the fruit trees planted last year to ensure their healthy growth. In addition, new bayabas (guava tree) and avocado trees were planted to further support food production and environmental protection. This Fruit Tree Rearing Activity was conducted at the same time as the fruit tree planting activity of the General Services Office, highlighting a shared effort across the university.

This activity emphasizes the importance of not only planting trees but also regularly caring for them so they can grow, bear fruit, and serve future generations. It encourages responsibility, patience, and long-term commitment to protecting the environment and supporting food security.

January 8, 2026On January 7, 2026, representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency – Philippines Office once again visited Benguet State University. The visiting team was composed of Senior Program Officer Lara Javier and Japanese Volunteer Coordinator Shibasaki Eiji. This second visit was conducted in preparation for the arrival of the JICA Volunteer, who is expected to begin service at the University in February.

During their previous visit last year, the JICA representatives paid a courtesy call to BSU officials to discuss the planned volunteer engagement. For this visit, the focus was on checking the possible accommodation for the incoming JICA Volunteer during the duration of the assignment at BSU.

The representatives were guided by International Relations Office Coordinator Jake Galian and College of Agriculture staff member Dianne Pingalo as they visited and inspected available housing options within and around the campus.

The visit highlights the continuing partnership between BSU and JICA and their shared commitment to academic development, community extension, and international cooperation, contributing to #SDG17partnershipsforthegoals.

December 12, 2025Meet Mr. Dunhill P. Gasic, a student from the College of Human Kinetics-Benguet State University, our official grantee of the Erasmus+ KA171 Programme Student Mobility at the University of Huelva, Spain.

The student mobility runs from February to July 2026. A 5-month engagement for the student to learn, study, develop new skills, and gain international experience.

Erasmus+ is the European Union’s program that promotes academic mobility, partnership development, and capacity-building among higher education and research institutions, providing opportunities for students and staff to study, learn, and collaborate with partner institutions abroad.

December 11, 2025Benguet State University, once again, received commendation from the Commission on Higher Education during the Internationalization Champions of Nation-Building and Sustainability (ICONS) Awards 2025, held on 10 December 2025 at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City. Representing BSU at the ceremony was Dr. Rex John G. Bawang, Director of the International Relations Office.

The ICONS Awards is an annual CHED initiative that recognizes Philippine Higher Education Institutions for their high-impact initiatives toward sustainability, commendable performance in international rankings and ratings, trailblazing internationalization efforts, and valuable contributions to ASEAN’s regional prosperity. It celebrates institutions that strengthen Philippine higher education through global engagement and sustainable development.

For 2025, more than 100 HEIs across the Philippines were honored for their outstanding achievements in global rankings, sustainability, ASEAN awareness, and internationalization. Among these institutions, BSU, with its continuing momentum for receiving recognition in the last ICONS AWARD in 2024, once again recognized this 2025 for serving as an exemplary champion of the future of Philippine higher education, demonstrated through the notable international achievements:

December 5, 2025Today, the 2025 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings were announced, and for the first time joining, Benguet State University ranked 674th globally, 390th in Asia, and 29th in the Philippines, among a total of 1,745 global Higher Education Institutions from 101 countries. This year saw an increase of over 300 HEIs from the previous 1,477 in 2024, with BSU joining for the first time.

The UI GreenMetric is a global ranking that recognizes universities for their efforts toward sustainability, including campus infrastructure, energy and climate initiatives, waste and water management, transportation, and sustainability-focused education and research.

Notably, BSU made an impressive debut as 4th among all HEIs in the Cordillera Administrative Region, and 29th out of 89 HEIs in the Philippines.

BSU also takes pride in maintaining its long-standing reputation as a pioneer of Education and Research in the Cordillera region. In this year’s results, the university earned the highest score in the Education and Research category among all HEIs in CAR, reflecting the deep dedication to teaching, learning, and research that support sustainability.

This milestone is a meaningful step for BSU as we continue to strengthen our commitment to a greener, healthier, and more sustainable campus.

We also extend our heartfelt congratulations to all Higher Education Institutions in the world, CAR and across the Philippines that participated and ranked in this year’s UI GreenMetric.

World Soil Day, celebrated every 5 December, reminds us of the importance of healthy soil and the need to manage soil resources in a sustainable way. The idea of having a day dedicated to soil began in 2002, when the International Union of Soil Sciences recommended it. With the support of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Global Soil Partnership, the FAO helped push for its formal recognition. In 2013, the FAO Conference approved it, and later that year, the UN General Assembly officially declared 5 December 2014 as the first World Soil Day.

December 3, 2025Today, we join the global community in observing the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a day dedicated to promoting understanding, advocating for dignity, and reinforcing the importance of inclusion in all aspects of society.

This year’s theme, “Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress,” highlights the importance of building communities where persons with disabilities are fully included, not just accommodated. It reminds us that inclusion becomes even more urgent when we look at the realities many persons with disabilities experience today.

They are at twice the risk of developing major health conditions.

Many die up to 20 years earlier than non-disabled individuals.

December 2, 2025On December 02, 2025, Benguet State University had the honor of welcoming representatives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The visiting team was composed of Senior Program Officer Lara Javier, Program Officer Lyr Faith Paruhinog, and Japanese Volunteer Coordinators Shibasaki Eiji and Kato Makoto. Their visit is part of the ongoing initiatives between BSU and JICA, especially in supporting the ongoing Pomology Project of the university.

Upon their arrival, the group was warmly welcomed at the office of the President by Josel M. Florentin, Vice President for Business Affairs. Joining him were Constantino T. Sudaypan, Dean of the Benguet State University-College of Agriculture; Jamesly Andres, Chair of the Extension Department; and Rex John G. Bawang, Director of the International Relations Office. Their presence showed that BSU values its partners and aims to continue working closely with them.

During their courtesy call to the BSU-Office of the President, the delegates briefly introduced themselves and shared the direction and plans for the collaboration. After the courtesy visit, the team proceeded to the College of Agriculture for a more detailed meeting. Both sides discussed the preparations needed by the University, the Agency, and the incoming JICA volunteer who will serve at BSU next year. They also explored additional areas where the volunteer may be involved, including community extension activities and academic engagement. Furthermore, they also discussed potential future partnerships, such as possible collaboration with the College of Forestry- BSU in the coming years.

Following the productive discussion, the group was given a tour around the College of Agriculture. They visited the office where the incoming volunteer will be staying and the colleagues the volunteer will be with. The tour also included a visit to the area where the Pomology Project is being implemented. This gave the JICA representatives a closer look at the current progress of the project, the layout of the area, the problems encountered, and the different fruit trees that have been planted. After viewing the project site, the group also visited the Marketing Center, where they saw and explored the various products sold by BSU.

BSU looks forward to the arrival of the JICA volunteer and the new opportunities this partnership will bring for learning, research, and community development, supporting global goals such as Quality Education (#SDG4), Zero Hunger (#SDG2), Life on Land (#SDG15), Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions (#SDG16), and Partnerships for the Goals (#SDG17).

Today, December 1, 2025, the prizes for all the student participants and winners were officially awarded during the Flag Raising Ceremony. Faculty representatives from each college received the prizes on behalf of their students.

November 27, 2025Benguet State University, through the International Relations Office, is pleased to announce that the International Cooperation Department of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU), Lithuania, will be hosting its International Staff Week on 20–24 April 2026.

Benguet State University has one (1) Erasmus+ grant allocated for a teaching mobility or training mobility to VMU. In line with Erasmus+ priorities, teaching mobility applications will be given preference.

Plantilla faculty members following fields are encouraged to apply:Agronomy, Rural Development, Agriculture Economics, Agriculture Business Management, Applied Informatics, Cultural Heritage and Tourism, Entrepreneurship, Food Technology, Public Administration and Governance, Sociology and Anthropology.
