Benguet State University (BSU), through the Cordillera Center for Animal Research and Development (CCARD) and the Cordillera Regional Apiculture Center (CRAC), formalized its partnership with Catalyste+ Canada through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding at the Office of the President on March 23, 2026.
Catalyste+ is a Canadian economic development organization that provides mentorship and advisory services to strengthen local skills and organizational capacity across countries and Indigenous communities in Canada. It collaborates with governments, community organizations, and businesses to enhance knowledge and drive innovative solutions for sustainable and inclusive economic growth, and operates spanning over 30 countries.
The ceremonial signing was held in the presence of University President Kenneth A. Laruan; CCARD and CRAC Director Ana B. Mendoza; Research and Extension Vice President Roscinto Ian C. Lumbres; International Relations Office Director Rex John G. Bawang; Academic Affairs Vice President Janet P. Pablo; CRAC and CCARD staff; Ms. Jae Imai from Catalyste+ Canada; Ms. Ton Nu Thi Thanh Yen from Catalyste+ Vietnam; and representatives from Catalyste+ Philippines– Mr. Erwin L. Altamarino, Mr. Mateo G. Navalta, Mr. Leo L. Corsino, Mr. Mark Noel Q. Nery, and Mr. Albert Emmanuel S. Permalino.
The MOU seeks to promote and strengthen relations between the Philippines and Canada through economic collaborations, contributing to the enhancement of the economic resilience of populations, particularly for women, sustainable agriculture and livelihood development, innovative leadership, and digital transformation programs.
