Strengthening ties in physical education, Benguet State University (BSU), through the College of Human Kinetics (CHK), formalized a partnership with YMCA College of Physical Education in India, through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Office of the University President on March 14, 2026.
Kenneth Laruan, University President, along with Sir Marlon Tabdi, Dean of the College of Human Kinetics (CHK), and faculty members from CHK, warmly welcomed Sir Johnson Premkumar, Principal-in-Charge and staff representative of YMCA College of Physical Education. Further exchanges of information were made through presentations and discussions.
Dr. Laruan and the faculty members of the College of Human Kinetics at BSU discussed the programs offered by the college, as well as the potential plans for future collaborations. Meanwhile, Sir Premkumar introduced YMCA College of Physical Education, providing a background of the institution, which was established in 1920 by Harry Crowe Buck, a renowned pioneer in physical education training in India. He also presented the college’s infrastructure, facilities, and equipment, along with other information about its faculty and staff, and the number of students currently enrolled in the institution.
The discussion concluded with plans to propose exchange programs between the two institutions. This partnership reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to advancing physical education, promoting health and wellness, and strengthening international academic cooperation in support of the #SDG3, #SDG4QualityEducation, and #SDG17partnershipsforthegoals.
