Yuki Yoshida and Giles Sioen, researchers from Japan’s National Institute of Environmental Studies (NIES), visit BSU to observe potential future research collaborations on January 27, 2023.

An exploratory meeting was conducted with the VPRE Johnny S. Dati, and the directors of concerned research centers. Among the presenters were Climate Smart Agriculture Center (CSAC) Director Genevieve R. Tabon, CorCAARD Director Janet P. Pablo, Center for Geoinformatics (GIS) Director Roscinto Ian C. Lumbres, and Representative for the Communication and Climate Change Project Jennyline Tabangcura. After the meeting, they were then able to visit a research site in Talingguroy.

Prior to their visit to the University, the guests conducted interviews with farmers in Atok, Benguet to gather information about local community culture and climate change perspectives. With the support of the IRO focal person, Leila Pulinney-Buloguey, they were also able to visit the BSU Buguias Campus.

Ms. Doreen I. Allasiw, an instructor from the Department of Development Communication and a colleague of the scientists, accompanied them during their visit in the province. This engagement was initiated by the College of Information Sciences.
