On February 3, 2025, an information session on the INTENSE Program, or the International Industrial Talents Education Special Program of Taiwan, was successfully held at the University.
The activity was made possible through the visit of delegates from Kun Shan University, Taiwan, INTENSE Program representatives, and Intact Base Philippines staff. The day began with a courtesy call at the Office of the President with University President Kenneth Alip Laruan, together with IRO Director Dr. Rex John G. Bawang and IRO Deputy Director Dr. Doreen I. Allasiw. Afterward, the IRO team guided the delegates to DSG Hall at the CTE Building for the conduct of the information session.
The session was attended by Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering students from the BSU-College of Engineering, who actively participated throughout the discussion.
The program formally opened with welcome remarks from Dr. Doreen, who also introduced the visiting delegates, including Prof. Chiu Kou-Chun, Dean of the Office of International Affairs of Kun Shan University, Dr. Mike Chu, CEO of the INTENSE Program, Ms. Wing Hsiao and Ms. Belle Cheng, Project Managers, and Ms. Joy Fojas, General Manager of Intact Base Philippines, and Ms. Jonah Ponce, Intact Base Staff.
Prof. Chiu delivered a short message, expressing his gratitude to the University and introducing the INTENSE Program. This was followed by an engaging information session led by Ms. Joy Fojas and Dr. Mike Chu, who introduced and discussed Kun Shan University and the INTENSE Program. They informed the students of the educational opportunities available, as well as the program’s benefits and requirements.
The program concluded with a closing message from IRO Director Dr. Rex John G. Bawang, who shared his personal experience studying in Taiwan and encouraged the students to try an international learning opportunity.
This meaningful activity was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the visiting institutions and the IRO team, with Ms. Joy Fojas for reaching out to the University and initiating the coordination that led to this opportunity.
