Benguet State University (BSU) welcomed students from Odisee University College on March 2, 2026, during the flag-raising ceremony at the Administrative Building grounds, followed by a Cultural Welcome at the International Relations Office (IRO) function hall in the afternoon.
Dr. Rex John G. Bawang, Director of the International Relations Office (IRO), warmly welcomed and acknowledged the presence of the international visitors during the flag ceremony. He was joined by International Language Center Director Jhordan T. Cuilan, who introduced the delegates from Tottori University, and College of Nursing Dean Mark U. Gay-as, who presented the nursing students from Odisee University College.
After the ceremony, the Odisee students paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the University President, where they were welcomed by Dr. Richard H. Kinnud, the Vice President for Administration and Finance and Officer-in-Charge; Sir Mark U. Gay-as, the Dean of the College of Nursing and IRO Coordinator; Sir Jude L. Tayaben, Associate Dean of the College of Nursing; and Maโam Bernadette C. Bagto, from the Office of the University Registrar. The delegates were also briefed on the activities and programs they may participate in during their stay. Afterwhich, they also raised their national flag alongside the Philippine Flag, symbolizing their presence in the University and strengthening the spirit of friendship and international collaboration.
Afterwards, the students toured the College of Nursing (CN) building, facilitated by Maโam Mhyrlynejee S. Camdas and Maโam Jovy L. Layson, faculty and staff members at the CN, where they were introduced to the various rooms, laboratories, and equipment available for use during their internship in BSU.
A cultural welcome program was held for the students in the afternoon. The program was once again graced by Dr. Kinnud and Dr. Bawang, along with faculty members from the College of Nursing. The program commenced with an opening prayer led by Ms. Stefanie Gum-oyen, IRO intern, followed by welcome remarks by Dr. Doreen Allasiw, the Deputy Director of IRO. Sir Dominador Abad Jr., Department Chairperson of the Clinical Instruction, together with Sir Mark Gay-as, presented an overview of the partnership between BSU and Odisee University and introduced the delegates. Dr. Kinnud then conveyed a heartfelt message about the partnership, which was followed by a gracious expression of gratitude from Ms. Dulcie Anne Marie Shekewa Domene Sinonke, one of the Odisee University students.
Moreover, a demonstration of cultural artistry was performed by the BSU Wildcats Arnis Team, showcasing the rhythmic stick-and-blade techniques of the National Martial Arts of the Philippines, the Arnis. This was followed by the performance of the BSU Lowland Cultural Dance Troupe, Sinagtala, performing the Sarung Banggi and Cariรฑosa. The cultural showcase was concluded with a line dance led by Maโam Charvet Caytap.
